About me
I completed my Bachelor and Honour (BscHons) degrees in geology (2013-2016), and Master degree (2017-2019) at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa. I began my PhD in June 2019 at the University of Johannesburg, in collaboration with the Czech Geological Survey, under the supervision of Prof. Jérémie Lehmann, Prof. Marlina Elburg (HoS), and Dr Pavlína Hasalová.
My PhD project is "Pressure-temperature-time-deformation (P-T-t-d) constraints on dome formation in the southern Central Zone of the Damara Belt, Namibia", Supervisors: Prof. Jérémie Lehmann (UJ), Prof. Marlina Elburg (UJ), Dr. Pavlína Hasalová (CGS). The project combines field-based structural geology with thermodynamic modelling of syn-kinematic metamorphic assemblages, as well as U-Pb radiometric dating of syn-deformational leucosome, and pre-, syn-, and post-deformational granites. The aim is to reconstruct the structural evolution of the Namibfontein-Vergenoeg structural dome exposed in the high-grade, deep levels of the Damara Belt. An outcome will be to give some insight into the conditions and timing of deformation fabrics in this polydeformed terrain, and ultimately propose a model of dome-formation.
